Franklin Sasso, 89, of Fairview, died on Thursday, December 22, 2022.
He was born on February 21, 1933, a son to the late Guy and Emma (Steif) Sasso.
Frank graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1951. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon his discharge he returned home to Ashtabula. Frank met his wife at his brothers high school and they married shortly after. Frank attended Kent University earning a Bachelors Degree in Education. He and his wife then moved to Boulder Colorado where he attended the University of Boulder attaining a Master Degree. Following his education Frank returned to Bradford, Pennsylvania where he taught Economics at Bradford Area High School. Frank served as a faithful teacher and guide to many students over his thirty plus year teaching career. He also coached JV basketball later in his career.
Frank was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, particularly the Ruffed Grouse. He and his son often took trips to local woodlands with his trained hunting dogs to bird hunt. Frank loved his dogs over the years and took many hours to train them properly. When he was not hunting Frank would walk up streams to fly fish for trout. He tended a garden in the summer and held horses for many years. Frank was a negotiator for the Pennsylvania State Education Association. He and his wife were long time members of the Girard Universalist Church.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sisters, Gloria DeGeorge and Mary Sasso; brother, David-Victor Sasso.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of over sixty years, Joyce (Hetz) Sasso; daughters, Jill Curtis (David) and Holly Sasso-Briggs (Stephen); son, Kent Sasso; grandchildren, Dylan Curtis, Rhys Curtis, Kaitlin Briggs-Stammetti, Sarah Briggs and Emilee Briggs; three great grandsons, Carter Hughes, Briggs Stammetti and Harrison Stammetti.
With his wishes there will be no calling hours observed.
Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
