Frank Herrick Payne Jr.

Frank Herrick Payne Jr., 72, of Girard, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

He was born July 19, 1953, a son of the late Frank H. Sr. and Dannetta (Bennett) Payne.

Frank grew up in the West County area and graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School. Following his education, he began working at Morlite, where he served as a foreman. He later joined Building Systems Inc., working in various roles in construction, and went on to work with Horton’s Precast building forms. Most recently, Frank worked in the maintenance department at Mercyhurst North East, where he remained until his retirement.

Frank was, above all, a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his wife and children. During his children’s younger years, the family often went camping, enjoying long weekends at Pymatuning Boat Club-times that created lasting and cherished memories. He found great joy in fishing, and each fall, family and friends gathered for hunting trips, often at camp, full of laughter and stories

His parents and brothers were always an important part of his life, and together they owned and operated The Woodloft, crafting furniture and handmade goods. They enjoyed traveling to craft shows. Frank and his family enjoyed carving walking sticks and similar pieces known as "wise men of the woods."

Above all else, his family meant everything to him, and his granddaughter was the light of his life.

He will be deeply missed by his loving family, including his wife, Nancy (Ohmer) Payne, whom he married on March 7, 1980; his daughter, Lindsey Delbo (Joey); his sons, Nathan and Joshua Payne; his brothers, Brian Payne (Marybeth) and Kevin Payne (Kristin); and his beloved granddaughter, Lillian Delbo and his extended family including many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 12664 US-19, Unit 1A, Waterford, PA 16441.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of AseraCare Hospice, especially Brandy, Darla, and Kelly, for the care and kindness shown to Frank.

Friends may call on Thursday April 9, 2026 from 4:00 pm to the time of service at 6:00 pm at the Edder Family Funeral Home LLC. 309 Main St. E. Girard.
