Frank Edward Jay, age 83, of Millcreek, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 26th, 2021, at UPMC Hamot, of natural causes. He was born in Tionesta PA, on June 11th, 1938, the son of late LaRoy and Margaret (Birtcil) Jay.
Being a lifelong patriot, Frank enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 16. Following his honorable discharge, Frank moved to Erie where he began working for the Penn Central Transportation Co., laying and welding train rail. After his work there, he transitioned to GAF Materials Corp., where he became an integral part of their shipping and received department. Frank stayed there until his retirement in 1997. Frank also kept multiple homes and rental properties which he enjoyed maintaining and remodeling throughout the years.
Frank loved to tinker, never straying from a new project. From home improvement to vehicle repair, he maintained a continuous desire to improve the world around him. He loved to keep his yard and garden in order, as well as his fruit trees. Frank truly understood the value of laughter and was an expert in looking at the bright side of any situation. It was only natural for his humor, smile, and charisma to light up any room he entered.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Beerbower, Winona Hartson, Avonelle Finley, and Shirley Runniger; brothers, Don, James, Gary and Richard Jay; and mother to his daughters, Jeannie (Jay) Fetterman.
