Elaine Hemstreet Obituary

Elaine M. (Fuller) Hemstreet, 75, of Albion, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024.

She was born on October 9, 1949, in Erie to the late Lloyd and Aletha (Haas) Fuller.

Elaine was a 1967 graduate of Rice Avenue Union High School and continued her education at Edinboro University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 1971. After graduation, she taught for a few years before transitioning to work at Beechwood Industries, where they manufactured plastic molds. Elaine worked at Beechwood for most of her career, including after the company relocated to New York following a sale. Later in her career, she became a nurse's aide at Fairview Manor, inspired by the excellent care her mother had received there. She retired from Fairview Manor in 2010.

Elaine was a devoted woman of faith. She taught Bible study at Grace United Methodist Church and began each day with personal Bible study. She loved the outdoors, particularly tending to her flower gardens, golfing, and watching birds. She was also an avid baseball fan, and anyone visiting her home would likely find either the Cleveland Indians or the Pittsburgh Pirates on her TV. Elaine was a dedicated member of the Conneaut American Legion Auxiliary Group Post #151 for over 10 years.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandy Fuller, her brother, Jim Fuller, as well as her granddaughter, Koreena Hemstreet.

Elaine leaves behind her loving husband of 35 years, Alan Hemstreet; her son, Ted Hemstreet (Stacy); her daughter, Peggy Crowe (Terry); her sisters, Kathy Bible, Marilyn Fuller-Smith (Peter), and Rosemarie Werling (Chuck); her brother, Dana Fuller; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 17, at Edder Funeral Home Inc., Girard, from 5 - 7 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 7 p.m.

Inurnment will take place at Albion Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
