Donald R. Schenk

Donald R. Schenk, 68, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026.

He was born in Erie on January 12, 1958. Donald was raised by his adoptive parents, Robert and Edith (Davis) Schenk, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Union City High School. For 35 years, Donald worked as an independent roofer and later spent eight years with Andrzejczak Landscaping.

Donald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life centered on his family. He was happiest when caring for those he loved and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether tinkering or building something that was needed or fixing one of the four-wheelers he enjoyed so much, he rarely sat still. An avid outdoorsman, Donald loved fishing throughout the year, often sharing those moments with his son and grandchildren. He was also a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and faithfully enjoyed watching WWE wrestling each week. He also was an avid collector of obscurities.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, Kim.

Donald leaves behind his beloved wife, Brianna (Gaskins) Schenk, whom he married on January 19, 2010, in West Springfield; his son, Dakota "Cody" Schenk and his wife, Ashley; his sister, Lori Ackerman; and his brothers, David Foster and Clarence "Junior" Foster. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who will cherish his memory.
