Donald G. Hrinda

Donald "Don" G. Hrinda, 73, of Fairview, passed away at home on Monday, July 14, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Don was born on September 14, 1951, in Erie to the late Joseph and Maryann (Komisarski) Hrinda.

He grew up in Fairview and graduated from Fairview High School in 1970. During high school, Don attended Erie County Technical School, where he studied auto mechanics. During this time, Don worked at Weislogel's IGA Grocer in Fairview. After graduation, he began working at Dailey’s Chevrolet in Erie, where he remained for several years. He then worked as a CNC operator at Erie Press Systems for 25 years and later finished his career at Custom Engineering Co.

Don had a lifelong passion for working on cars. Among his collection of antique cars were his cherished 1950-era Chevrolet Panel Truck, 1957 Chevy, 1964 Chevy Impala, and 1972 Chevrolet Nova. He also enjoyed helping on his parents’ farm, where he rode the tractors, worked on his cars, and helped his dad with farming work. He also especially enjoyed time with his children setting up and running model train sets.  Don was an active member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Parker, and his three beloved German Shepherds, Max, Angel, and Spike.

Don is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Cathy Sue (Stough) Hrinda, whom he married on November 7, 1981, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church; his daughter, Andrea Kristina Valant (Chris); his sons, Aaron Joseph Hrinda (Kristen) and Adam Gregory Hrinda; his sister, Karen Dibble (Robert); his sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Homchenko (Dave), and Diane Elaine Sansone (Tim), and his grandchildren, Abigail Jane Hrinda, Logan Joseph Hrinda, and Carter John Hrinda. He is also survived by his Godmother, Irene Wisiewski, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. E., Girard, PA 16417. Burial and words of committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 7800 Maple St., Fairview, PA 16415.
