Donald C. Coulson, 74, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
He was born October 12, 1946 in Buena Vista, VA, a son of the late Paul F. and Mary M. (Pugh) Coulson.
Don attended Tech Memorial High School in Erie and later received his GED while serving in the US Army. He was inducted in the US Army in 1966 during the Vietnam Conflict. He deployed to Germany and served there in Service Battery, 1st Battalion, 10th Field Artillery Battalion. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooters Badge. Upon his honorable discharge from the military he returned to Erie and began working at Eriez Magnetics, where he started in the machine shop, and then the coil winding department. He moved to Tucson, AZ in 1986 and worked in the Pest Control business there. He also lived in Maryland for a brief time and worked for the National Security Agency. He returned to his employment at Eriez Magnetics until he started his own company D & H Pest Control in 2004 which he currently operated.
He was an avid New England Patriots fan, enjoyed traveling with his wife, Hazel throughout the country and visiting Locks in Kentucky and Michigan. He enjoyed being self employed in his business and was very proud of his 1984 Corvette which he restored.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel M. (Williams) Coulson, whom he married March 2, 1968 in Erie; a sister, Joan Dempsey and brothers, Eugene and Stephen "Dave" Coulson.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include a daughter, Michelle L. Miller of Erie; brothers, Ronald Coulson of Erie, Robert Coulson (Charlene) of Cooperstown, FL, and John Coulson (Nancy) of Syracuse, NY; his grandchildren, Ashley (Perkins) Rodrigues (Daniel) of Fairview, Cody Ewer of Erie and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to the funeral service there on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in the Girard Cemetery with full military honors.
