Donald Carey Obituary

Donald S. Carey, age 68, of Fairview Township passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2021 at UPMC Hamot of complications from a tragic motorcycle accident on September 19, 2021 involving an automobile.
He was born in Erie on June 18, 1953, a son of the late Lee and Berniece (Pustelak) Carey.
Donald attended St. John the Evangelist School in Girard. He then attended Rice Ave Union High School and he also studied machine operators training at Erie County Technical School graduating in 1971.  He was associated with the Tool and Die industry his whole life including teaching at Erie County Technical School, the Regional Occupational Skill Center and eventually owning his own company, “Conformance Manufacturing Company,” working at various other tool and die companies in the area, and most recently retiring from General Electric (Wabtec) in Erie.
Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, loved to play golf and online, skeet shooting, was an avid hunter, motorcycle riding, master of the BBQ grill, and loved to travel especially to England. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Cavilers and lifelong Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He was quick with a joke and comeback line, never at a loss for words. He was so very proud of his daughter and her accomplishments. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and much more to his many friends.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda F. Carey, of Fairview, whom he married August 24, 1974, in Girard; a daughter, Michelle L. Winnie (Justin), of Girard; two brothers, Leo D. Carey of Phoenix, AZ and James J. Carey (Annemarie) also of Phoenix AZ; a brother-in-law, John P.
