Diana Lynn Gardner (Gyenes), passed away at age 66 on Friday, April 18, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 24, 1958 in Erie to Wanda Ondreako. She graduated from Girard High School in 1978, after which she worked at several jobs, including Ervite and Moser Vending.
With a sense of adventure like no other, she traveled toward every horizon she could lay her eyes on. Being a true gardener before being a Gardner, she took great pride in her home and garden. There was no plant she couldn’t grow, no wilted leaf she couldn’t fix. She could practically bring petrified wood back to life. She had a great love for nature, often planting milkweed for butterflies and keeping the bird feeders well stocked. Her love of nature stretched beyond animals, for as the sun set on the horizon, she could sometimes be seen staring up at the stars on a clear night. Her collection of fossils and crystals served to remind her how fascinating our planet is.
Even after suffering a stroke, her sense of humor never diminished, nor did her determination or hardworking nature. If she was awake, she had a joke ready on the tip of her tongue. She was never afraid of what people thought of her, often utilizing this to embarrass her daughter with singing animatronic toys in stores.
Her legacy lives on with her husband Stephen Gardner, whom she married on October 14, 2000; daughter, Sarah Gardner; dog, Charlie, and their five cats.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Diana's name may be made out to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E 10th St, Erie, PA 16511.
Burial will take place Monday, April 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Francis Cemetery, 8766 Gudgeonville Road, Girard PA 16417.
