Dennis "Mike" Clark

Dennis "Mike" Clark, 74, of Girard, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 28, 2021. 

  Dennis was born November 11, 1946 in Erie, a son of the late, William C. and Lois (Steel) Clark.

 He graduated from East High School in 1964. While a Senior at East High, he enlisted into the US Marine Corps. Following basic training at Parris Island SC, he deployed to Puerto Rico and Cuba. In 1966 he was deployed to Vietnam with Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 13th Marine Division, where he engaged the North Vietnamese Army at the "Siege of Khe-Sanh", where he was Operations Chief of the Fire Direction Control Center. There, he received the Purple Heart Medal, for wounds received during combat operations with the enemy. He also received the National Defense Service Medal; the Presidential Unit Citation; Vietnam Service Medal with 1 bronze star; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal w/1960 and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his discharge from the military he returned home and began his apprenticeship with the Local #66 International Union of Operating Engineers, where he received his Journeyman's Certificate in 1972. He continued working with the Union until his retirement in 2009.

 He was a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494 and enjoyed racing "Go-Karts" with his boys, hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Hovey.

 Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda S. (Bille) Clark, whom he married August 25, 1965 in Erie; two sons, Dennis M. Clark Jr.(Susan), Keith A. Clark; two grandchildren, Tara Lawrence (Nathan), Zachary Clark (Kristyne); great grandchildren, Liam, Emma and Jamey Lawrence; a brother, Donald W. Clark (Nancy); and several nieces and nephews.

  Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm at Edder Funeral Home, Inc. 309 Main Street East Girard, with a service being held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 10am at the funeral home.

   Burial with military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
