Dennis W. Wojsiat, of Girard, answered the Lord's call on November 27, 2023, at the age of 76, at UPMC Hamot.
Denny was born on November 27, 1947, in Erie to the late Walter and Margaret (Danko) Wojsiat.
He was a graduate of Rice Avenue Union High School in 1965, Denny continued his education at Buffalo State University, earning a Master's Degree in Industrial Arts. Shortly after graduating from Buffalo he was led back to his hometown, where he stayed for a thirty-six-year career at Girard High School until retirement in June of 2010. Denny loved his career as a high school industrial arts teacher. He really enjoyed educating and inspiring his students to help them further their career. He enjoyed seeing former students whenever he could and reconnecting with them as much as he could.
Denny was an active outdoorsman, spending much of his time maintaining his property and crafting beautiful items in his workshop including ceramics. He had a passion for his woodworking projects, building clocks, rocking horses, and handcrafted tables and cabinets that were in his own home. Denny's active nature led him into fixing anything that came his way. His love for cars was evident throughout his life where he owned a variety of sought after vehicles but none more special than his cherished 1965 Pontiac GTO, that he purchased right after High School. While he was outdoors, Denny could be found with his sidekick, Smokey the cat. A man deeply rooted in his Catholic faith, he remained a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church throughout his life, helped whenever possible.
In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife of over forty-five years, Sharlene (Salamon) Wojsiat, along with his brother-in-law, Jim Salamon, sister-in-law Marlene Koenig (Greg); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass to celebrate Denny's life will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1001 Main St. E. Girard, followed by entombment at Cavalry Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Denny's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
