Dennis Vogt, 77 of Girard, died on Monday, March 17, 2025, surrounded by his children.
He was born at home, on May 5, 1947, to the late Dewey and Nina (Lawrence) Vogt.
Denny graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1965 before being drafted into the United States Army. He served for two years, earning an Honorable Discharge before returning home. Soon after, he married his now ex-wife, Louise (Rice) and started a family. A dedicated and hardworking man, Denny spent over thirty years with Bessemer and Union Railroads, providing faithfully for his loved ones.
Above all, Denny was known for his sense of humor, and loved putting a smile on everyone's face...that was his love language. If he was teasing you, you knew you were loved, often giving people nicknames that stuck throughout their lives. He also enjoyed time spent with his family and friends; playing cards, going to classic car shows, flea markets and watching his kids play sports. A lover of 50s rock and old country music, you could find Denny at home creating mix-tapes and burning CDs for himself and his friend’s enjoyment.
After retirement, he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson or riding with the top down on his Mustang.
His legacy of laughter, dedication, and joy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was also proceeded in death by his sister, Charlotte Hudacky.
He will be greatly missed by his three children, Scott Vogt (Mary Beth “Betsy”) of Conneaut, OH, Matt Vogt (Rebecca) of Lake City, PA, and Katie Beam (Steve) of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Myron Vogt (Kay); and 5 grandchildren, Hudson Beam, Laken Vogt, Gwyn Beam, Lane Vogt, and Brooks Beam.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Because You Care, Inc Animal Rescue, 6041 W Rd, McKean, PA 16426.
Burial at Sterrettania Cemetery will take place privately.
