Darrin Sydow Obituary

Darrin Alan Sydow, 53, of Albion, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

He was born on April 20, 1972, in Erie, to the late George Sydow and Deloris (Kuvik) McDonald.

Darrin attended Girard High School and later earned his G.E.D. in 1990. Over the years, he worked at various jobs across West County, including Country Fair, McDonald’s, Burger King, and West Telemarketing. Following a series of health issues, Darrin was forced to retire but continued to work when he was able.

He was an avid fan of the Lady Yellow Jackets basketball and volleyball teams, where he also served as a scorekeeper for many years. His love of sports extended to cheering for his favorite football teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Clemson Tigers. Darrin, who was kind-hearted and funny, was also a homebody who cherished time with his family and enjoyed playing board, card, dice, and backyard games with them.

In addition to his parents, Darrin was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert McDonald, and great-nephew, Jaden Campbell.

He is survived by his family, including his stepmother, Gelsomina Sydow; sister, Cindy Webber; brothers, Jeffrey Sydow (Kristi) and Randy Sydow; step-siblings, Kathleen Orr (John), Chuck Bateman (Tammy), Jody Bateman (Debi), and Doug Bateman (Christine); nieces and nephews, Stephen, Deanne, Bradley, Brandy, Carrie, Amber, Caitlyn, Matthew, Austin, and Emily; as well as great-nieces and nephews, Destiny, Daisy, Blake, Nolan, Skylar, Molly, Braxton, and Cailey.

Because of his deep love for animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Darrin’s name to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511.

Per Darrin’s wishes, services will be held privately.
