Darlene A. (Maitlen) Lance

Darlene A. (Maitlen) Lance, 64 of Millcreek, died Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Vincent Health Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born June 13, 1956 in Manchester, CT, the daughter of Donna R. (Farrand) Penner of Erie and the late Darrel D. Maitlen.

Darlene graduated from McDowell High School in 1974. Later in life she attended and graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1995.

She began her professional employment as a nurse at Dr. Guthleben’s office followed by Bayside OB/GYN. She later worked for Dr. Finn at Presque Isle Women’s Health. She had also been employed at St. Vincent Health Center in a variety of roles, most recently as a case manager until her recent diagnosis of cancer.

Darlene was a master gardener and loved spending time at Presque Isle on the beaches. Her family and grandchildren were her world, she loved taking them places and spending time with them.

She will be greatly missed by her family, which in addition to her mother, include her two sons, Brian D. Lance (Chiná) of Nunda, NY, Aaron G. Lance (Ashley) of Clifton Heights, PA; a sister, Dawn L. Maitlen of Erie; a brother, David D. Maitlen (Kathy) of Greer, SC; her two beloved grandchildren Carter and Ruby Lance and several nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank John and Bonnie Wieczorek, Cathy Leopold and Susan Sampsell for all of their love and support.
