Darlene Ann (Brado) Koppes

Darlene Ann Koppes (Brado), 70, of West Springfield, was called home to Jesus on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Darlene was born on March 29, 1954, to the late William and Roberta (Fitzsimmons) Brado in Ontario, Canada.

In the late 1970s, Darlene moved to Erie County, where she would reside for the rest of her life.

Darlene had a deep love and passion for animals. She never met an animal she didn’t adore. She is greatly missed by her dog, Sammy, and her cat, Harley. Throughout her life, Darlene also enjoyed many other pastimes. She loved gardening, sitting by a bonfire, listening to Stevie Nicks, attending concerts, creating and caring for beautiful fish tanks, baking, and camping in Kelletville. She cherished the color blue and treasured spending Christmas with her friends and family.

Since retiring in 2020, Darlene found joy in family gatherings, attending her grandchildren's events, working tirelessly in her yard, and tending to her flower gardens.

Darlene is survived by her sons: Edward Koppes (Kelli) of Girard, Dale Peters (Anna) of Kingsville, OH, Christopher Koppes (Alyssa) of Girard, and Ryan Koppes of Erie; her grandchildren: Taylor, Bryden, Ashton, Drew, Anthony, Makayla, Maddox, Gemma, Addy, Calvin, and Katie; her brother, Edwin Horton (Beverly) of South Carolina; her sisters: Sue Smith (Reinaldo) of Utica, NY, and Cynthia Richard (John) of Paris, France; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life at Flightpath Fellowship, 4749 McMillen Dr., Erie, PA 16505, on Saturday, December 14 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Guests are encouraged to wear the color blue in Darlene’s honor.

The family would like to thank the staff at UPMC Hamot for their compassion, dignity, and immense kindness shown during Darlene’s care.
