Cody Davison Obituary

Cody Michael Davison, 26, of West Springfield, was taken from us on February 3, 2023, due to exposure, while doing what he loved most, analyzing life and his role within it, as he walked through the woods.

Cody was born an old soul on July 17, 1996. His parents, Randy and Kimberly (Christie) Davison adored him immediately.  He was the second of four siblings whom he loved and protected fiercely. Later, he fostered a special bond with his niece and nephews and they lovingly dubbed him, "Coda". Cody's family was very important to him.

In school, Cody was a Boy Scout, active in the FFA and ran track and cross country. Many of his teammates have said what a difference his encouragement and support made in their lives. After graduating from Northwestern High School in 2014, Cody enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his service he attained the rank of Lance Corporal and spent one year and eleven months overseas. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Expert Rifle Qualification Badge and Expert Pistol Qualification Badge. Cody served lastly with the Marine Wing Support Squadron 37, Marine Aircraft group 13, stationed in Yuma Arizona. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home to the Erie area.

He was naturally quiet and introspective, with a deep sense of curiosity that compelled him to understand how things worked. These attributes afforded him the ability to truly absorb the world around him and the individuals in it. His intuition and emotional intelligence made him an excellent reader of people. A skill he used to support, protect and defend, any and all who were in need. He was a true empath, feeling other people's emotions deeply. Though oftentimes it brought him pain, it never stopped him from what he felt called to do. Many have said of Cody, during the most trying times of their lives, he was there to push back the darkness for them, when they couldn't. Cody's light will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed enough to witness it.

Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth Christie, Linda Howell and Daniel Howell and his aunt Rochelle Seuffer. He is survived by his adoring parents, Randy & Kim; his three loving siblings, Kenneth Davison, Adrienne Davison (Christian Linn) and Zachary Davison; His grandparents, Robert and Donna Davison and by his beloved niece, Sophia and four beloved nephews, Jayden, Xavier, Jackson and Theo; Shannon Knapp and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
