Cheryl L. (Briggs) Vojtko

Cheryl L. (Briggs) Vojtko, 62, of Girard, passed away on September 2, 2025. 

She was born September 5, 1962, a daughter to the late Jack and Ruth (Dean) Briggs. 

Cheryl attended Rice Avenue Union High School. After graduation, she worked at Brookpark Plastic before continuing her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She dedicated many years of service at Fairview Manor, where her steady and caring hands brought comfort to countless residents.

Cheryl lived with a degenerative bone disease which led to an early retirement in her middle-aged years. She found peace in Girard, where she enjoyed life’s simple joys. She loved music and could often be found sitting on the porch during the summer, listening and relaxing. Cheryl cherished trips to the beach, especially Raccoon Park, and spent many warm days sunbathing by the pool. She also had a special talent for baking, even creating a wedding cake for her son, after attending specialized baking courses. Above all, Cheryl’s greatest joy was her family, to whom she gave her love, time, and care without hesitation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tracy Abbey. 

Cheryl will be greatly missed by her family which includes her sons, Michael Abbey (Carole), Cory Abbey, and Matthew Abbey; brothers, Jack Briggs (Connie) and David Briggs; grandchildren, Isaiah Esther (Alexandra York), Tabitha Esther (Reese Hess), Hannah Esther, Elijah Abbey, Madison Abbey; great-grandchildren, Paisley Esther and Liam Esther; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. at the Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. E., Girard.
