Cheryl Casbohm Obituary

Cheryl Ann (Getz) Casbohm, 71, of Albion, PA, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with her family by her side.

She was born August 26, 1954, a daughter to the late Theodore and Betty (Yarrington) Getz.

Cheryl graduated from McDowell High School, where, at a young age, she met the love of her life, Chris Casbohm. Together, they built a family rooted in love and enduring commitment.

Cheryl was the anchor of her home, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family. She was attentive to their every need, never missing a sports game or event, and gave of herself with quiet selflessness and unconditional love. She took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home, preparing table-set meals every day and baking many goodies from scratch, including her delicious raisin-filled cookies and pies galore. She loved creating memorable holiday dinners that often centered around her very own "famous ham gravy." She decorated extensively for every holiday and found great joy in the smiles and excitement she brought to those she loved during these special times.

Cheryl enjoyed spending much of her time outdoors, tending the family farm and growing large vegetable gardens that she canned to provide for the entire family. She enjoyed bird watching in her backyard, keeping hummingbird feeders filled and planting flowers and bulbs around the house to welcome the honey bees, and enjoyed watching sunsets from her back deck. She had a special love for owls and lighthouses, and filled her home with photos, lamps, and figurines inspired by her fondness for them. Cheryl was a dedicated daily reader who found comfort in immersing herself in everything from novels to the daily newspaper and her favorite magazines. From a young age, Cheryl had a passion for horseback riding, racing through the country fields with Chris, and later enjoyed competitive events with her stubborn horse, Tex. Cheryl also shared a special bond with Chris, whether cruising in their '65 Mercury Comet to antique car and truck shows with stops for ice cream along the way, or making maple syrup together through the family business, proudly earning her place as a sugarmaker. She enjoyed bowling with friends and treasured taking the family to Presque Isle State Park for beach days each summer. She would often spend a full day shopping, hunting for knick-knacks, rocks, and crystals, and hitting the thrift stores in search of a great sale. An avid photographer of family moments, she left behind albums full of memories that her family will cherish forever.

As her children grew and welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren of their own, she poured that same love into each new little one who joined the family, showing the same patience, kindness, and devotion that had always defined her. She treasured every opportunity to teach, encourage, and create lasting memories, making sure each child knew just how loved and special they were. A true Super Mom and Nana, Cheryl made sure everyone around her was fed, cared for, and loved. The world has lost a truly beautiful soul.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Mae Rodgers; and a brother at a young age, Kevin Getz.

She will be greatly missed by her family, which includes her husband, Chris Casbohm, whom she married December 11, 1971, sharing 54 years of marriage; sons, Eric Casbohm (Jamie) and Adam Casbohm (Lexy); daughters, Stacy Logan (David) and Kelly Irwin (Owen); sisters, Martha Acker, Karen Gissetto (Bob), and Cindy Towsey; brothers, Dennis Getz, Charles Getz (Pat), and Rodney Getz (Maureen); grandchildren, Nicholas Casbohm (Tiffany), Michael Lee (Angela), Marly Fountain (Lloyd), Addison Irwin, Dorsey Logan, Devin Logan, and Ryleigh Leseck; great-grandchildren, Kolten, Jaxson, Rhett, Cooper, Carson, Caden, George, Chloe, and Cassie; as well as many nieces and nephews.
