Charles "Chuck" N. Brown

Charles "Chuck" N. Brown, 89, of Girard, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Warren Hospice House.

He was born March 5, 1936, in Millcreek Township, PA, a son of the late Norman and Mabel (Wurst) Brown.

Chuck graduated from McDowell High School in 1954.  Following graduation, he went to work for the family business, Brown Bros. Meat Products and Supermarkets, in Erie where he assisted in all areas of the family business. He married his wife, Marilyn M. (Smith) Brown on June 9, 1956, at Weis Library Church in Fairview.  Chuck moved to Delevan, NY where he assisted in a Christian ranch for adolescents before returning to Fairview. He then worked for McKinley Plumbing and later retired from Fairview Sewer and Water Authority in 2002.

Chuck was a former member of the Girard Alliance Church where he was active in leadership roles. He was a Director of the Erie Food Pantry, assisting with food distribution throughout West Erie County. He and his wife enjoyed bike riding together, specifically at Presque Isle, for many years.  Chuck also spent his life helping others who were in need, whether it was assisting with plumbing needs or other projects. 

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, James R. Brown.

Chuck will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Marilyn (Smith) Brown; daughter, Linda M. Zimmerman (Todd); son, Terry C. Brown; granddaughters, Lindsay Allen (Ryan), Ashley Sorensen (Tyler), and Chelsea Vogus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave, Warren, PA 16365, or the Federated Church of East Springfield, 11995 Main St, East Springfield, PA 16411.

Friends may call on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm to the time of service at 6:00 pm at the Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. E, Girard. The private burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery.
