Caroline Marilla Veith, 84, of Girard, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Girard on February 04, 1938, a daughter of the late George McKee and Josephine Clayton Veith, who were descendants of pioneers, who settled in what's now Erie County in 1797.
Caroline graduated from Girard's Rice Avenue Union High School in 1956. Later she worked at Girard Mfg. and took evening classes at Villa Maria, and also at Penn State University Extension in Erie.
She had worked for Rogers Brothers Corp. in Albion for many years, and most recently had worked for Triangle Technical School as a drafting instructor.
She was a member of the Girard United Methodist Church. She volunteered for many organizations in the Girard Community. She was the first President of the Hazel Kibler Museum in Girard, a Battles Museum Board member, a member of the Dan Rice Days Committee since its inception, the Girard Recreational Board, and was a former board member of the Erie County Historical Society.
Caroline enjoyed history, skiing, basketball, tennis, all outdoor sports activities and restoring her home on South Park in Girard.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Lynn Marie Veith; and by her brothers, John J. Veith and George C."Gunner" Veith.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Joan Veith of Girard; a nephew, George J. "Jay" Veith and his wife Gina of Bear, Del.; a niece, Christine Marshall and her husband James of Columbia, Md.; four great-nieces, Analiese, Allegra and Aida Veith, and Lauren Marshall; and one great-nephew, Austin Veith.
There will be no calling hours or services observed for Caroline.
