Carol Joy Graham, formerly of Girard, passed away in Spirit Trust Lutheran Home in York, PA on March 9, 2026.
Carol was born December 11, 1951, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Marvin Hammett and Gloria Brown Hammett. She grew up in the West Springfield/Albion area, and graduated from Northwestern High School in Albion, and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education/ Special Education.
Carol then spent her entire career in Conneaut Area City Schools, in Conneaut, OH, as a special education/intervention specialist, working at Chestnut and Gateway Elementary Schools. She married the love of her life, Ralph Graham, in 1976 and was happily married until his death in 1996.
Besides her family, Carol enjoyed traveling, gardening, tea parties, Minnie Mouse, music, and crafts, particularly quilting and crocheting. She was cofounder and director of the Grace Notes, the children's choir at Grace UM Church in Albion, PA, and sang with the local folk group The Hearthside Singers, accompanying them on guitar. She also sang in productions sponsored by Conneaut Chapter of the MacDowell Music Clubs, notably in their choir and as a nun in "The Sound of Music." She was a former member of the Conneaut Quilt Guild and the Girard Happy Hookers Craft Club. She enjoyed camping, especially at Disney resorts. She was also a supportive member of the Girard High School Band Boosters during her children's tenure there.
Besides her husband, Ralph, Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George.
She is survived by two sons; Matthew (Kim) of Stephens City, VA and Michael (Kelly) of Mt. Wolfe, PA; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Eleanor and Miles Graham; sisters Barbara (Mrs. Robert) Angelotti of Chesterfield, VA and Gloria Bartone of Conneaut, OH; a brother Dalton (Shirley) Hammett of Albion, PA and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mission Empower, 1611 Peach St Suite #120, Erie, PA 16501.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 11th at 10:00am for visitation, followed by a service at 11:00am, at Edder Family Funeral Home, 309 Main Street E., Girard, PA.
