Carol E. (Gilliland) Ackerman

Carol E. Ackerman, 79, went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2024, at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

She was born on November 17 , 1944, to the late Norman and Ethel (Rabell)  Gilliland in Meadville, Pa.

Carol graduated from Fort LeBoeuf in 1962 and met George, the love of her life. She would go on to earn a Bachelor's in Nursing. She moved to Duluth, Minnesota with George during his time in the military. They would return home in 1967 and built a family together.

Carol's professional path led her to Hamot Hospital and Pleasant Ridge Manner as a RN. Carol's love for cooking and baking extended into a fulfilling catering career. Outside of her jobs, she worked hard at and cherished being a stay-at-home mom during her children's early years. Traveling brought her joy, creating memories with friends and family.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, George Ackerman, and four sons: Jon, Kevin (Keri), Scott (Dan), and Timothy Ackerman (Chelsea). Her sisters, Betty Lou Klindienst (Dave) and Mary Ann Tronetti. Carol's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ashley Friedman, Kira, Kaylin, Mackenzie, Olivia, Collin, James Ackerman and great-granddaughter, Arbor Knowlton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WLD Ranch, 7351 Woolsey Road, Girard, PA.

Friends may call on January 12 from 4 - 7 PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main Street East, Girard. A service will be held on January 13 at 10 AM at Edder Funeral Home Inc.. A private burial at Girard Cemetery will follow the service.
