Calvin Redden Obituary

Calvin C. Redden, 87, of Lake City, died on Wednesday July 30, 2025 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
He was born on December 31, 1937 a son to the late Richard E. and Hazel M. (Clifford) Redden.
Calvin’s early years were spent in West Virginia, where he was the only child to the two eldest children of very big families.  He later moved to Albion and attended Albion Area High School and went on to enlist in the United States Air Force, he served his country very proudly until he was called home to help his mother care for his ailing father.  He was the true Patriarch of his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He led with value’s, morals and loved with all of his heart. He was a man of tradition; he took great pride in cooking for his loved ones and was an amazing cook. His home was always open to all of his three daughter’s friends.  He and his wife Carol raised many children besides their daughters Calvin worked most of his life at Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad for nearly 30 years he served as clerk and yardmaster.  In Retirement he and his wife Carolyn traveled to many different destinations in their camper for years together. Calvin played the guitar and loved music, trains and antique cars.  He owned many,  cars throughout his life.  He loved to restore cars and sell them as a hobby. 
 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Carolyn N. (Wheeler) Redden whom he married June 10, 1961, and their first daughter Tammy Redden and many aunts and uncles that he was raised with as siblings.  
He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Tracie Frick, and Trudi Jarvi (David): his companion of the last 9 years Mary Dzikowski and her son Dan.  Calvin was blessed with many grandchildren, Benjamin Sedmak (Heather), Stephanie Wood (David), Zachariah Fricke, Gage Frick, Jordan West (Jon), Jacob Jarvi (Paris), Taylor Frick, Cali Royer (Zack), Jesse Frick and great grandchildren Grey Frick, Lucas West and Liam West.  His loving dog Adeline Rose and bird named Ollie Oop. A special thank you for his friend and neighbor Ava Greysho who looked out for Calvin, Adeline, and Olly.

Friends may call on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Edder Family Funeral Home LLC. 309 Main Street East, Girard. After visitation, a procession will travel to the Lake City Presbyterian Church, for the funeral service, Rev. Debbie Rimmer Officiating. Full military honors to follow at the Girard Cemetery.
