Brian Stelter, of Lake City, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was the son of Joseph B. and Dorothy (Dolter) Stelter, born February 11, 1948.
Following his graduation from Mohawk High School in Lawrence County, PA, Brian enlisted with the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Pearl Harbor and the Azores during the Vietnam War. After his service, Brian moved to Erie in 1971 to be closer to his love, Bonnie Young of Fairview; the couple married in November of 1973. Brian settled into a career with General Electric, first as an assembler and then a welder. Brian progressed into a role as an inspector for Quality Control before his retirement in 2007.
Brian was a quiet soul, who was truly devoted to his family. He and Bonnie welcomed three sons through the years. The boys could count on their father to make the time to be present on the sidelines of sporting events, and they also shared a love for RC cars, racing for boasting rights. Brian enjoyed a round of golf on the green as well as tinkering with woodworking.
Bonnie was also held closely in Brian’s heart and his efforts, he was a mindful supporter of her needs, helping with church events and the upkeep of their home. In more recent years, they spent special moments together traveling, with a trip to Hawaii marking their 50-year anniversary. The two took pleasure in visiting museums, beaches, and soaking up the sun.
Brian was preceded in his passing by his parents.
He will be lovingly missed by his family, including his wife of 51 years, Bonnie; three sons, Geoffrey, Gregory (Becca Turner), and Joseph; his sister, Sharon Grey (David) of Wampum, PA; as well as extended family.
