Boris R. Sonoff, 85, of Girard, died Sunday January 31, 2021 at Manchester Commons.
He was born on November 21, 1935 in Barberton, OH, a son of the late George and Theresa (Yankovich) Sonoff.
He graduated from Barberton High School in 1953 and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Akron University and a Minor in Accounting. He began his employment with his families dairy, Sonoff Dairy and later following his education, he worked at Yoder Brothers in Erie. Boris lived with his wife, Grace, in Ft. Myers, FL, while working for Yoder Brothers. Upon returning to the Girard area, Boris worked for Spiegel Realtors and eventually opened his own real estate office and brokerage firm, Sonoff Realtors, specializing in real estate appraisal services.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Girard. A member of the Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge #362 F & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Erie. He was coroneted a 33rd Degree in 2009, and was a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. Boris also served as an advisor for Rainbow International of Girard.
In addition to his parents, Boris was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Ann (Morton) Sonoff, whom he married February 22, 1954 in Akron, OH. and also a brother, George Sonoff.
Boris is survived by a son, Robert O. Sonoff (Julie Madura) of Erie and a daughter, Kimberly K. Tomei of Akron, OH; sister, Clara England; brothers, Fred Sonoff (Noreen) and Raymond Sonoff (Elizabeth); two grandsons, Dominic Tomei and Tony Tomei.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edder Funeral Home, Inc., Girard, PA. A combined Memorial Service for Boris and Grace will be announced in the future, to be held at the Girard Presbyterian Church.
