Beverly A. (Olmstead) Weidler, 84, of Girard, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at UPMC Hamot.
She was born in Fairview on December 27, 1938, a daughter of the late Floyd and Alice (Illig) Olmstead.
Bev graduated from Fairview High School in 1957 and began employment immediately following at Marx Toy’s in Girard. She later worked at Lady Fair women’s clothing store in Girard and sold jewelry, dinner ware and Avon at her home for many years. She was also employed in electronic manufacturing in Lake City, where she soldered electronic parts together, retiring in 2002.
She was a long-time member of the Girard American Legion Post #494 Auxiliary, where she was President, Past President and Vice President.
According to her family, Bev was a jack of all trades, even roofing with her boys and occasional plumbing. She loved running functions for the American Legion Auxiliary, assisting with many dinner functions at the club. She was definitely “IN CHARGE”, made her opinion well known, and let you know where the bear did it in the buckwheat.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Weidler in 2020, whom she married November 29, 1958, in Girard; a daughter in law, Stacy J. (Colvin) Weidler in 2014 and two brothers, Richard and Gerald “Jerry” Olmstead.
She will be greatly missed by her family which include three daughters, Diane E. Weidler, Suzanne M. Rudler (Bob) and Deborah A. Nolan (Matt); two sons, William D. Weidler II (Kelly) and Daniel E. Weidler (Bonnie McConnell); her grandchildren, Jessica Becker (Bret), Heather Stearns (Bryn), Austin Agnello (Haley), Sarah Bosch (Beau), Dakota Kmecik (Jason), Adrianne Platz (Mike), Neal Rudler, Lindsay Filley (Mike Perry), Kylee Weidler, Lindsay Weidler, William J. Weidler, Seth Weidler (Michelle) and Shane Weidler (Amanda); eleven great grandchildren; her brother Ron Olmstead (Dianne) and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11AM to the time of the Memorial Service at 1PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard, with Kristen Blucas officiating.
