Betty L. (Myers) Scalise

Betty L. (Myers) Scalise, 90, of East Springfield, passed away at her home, with a broken heart, just 19 days after her husband, surrounded by her family.
 She was born June 1, 1931, a daughter of the late Alfred E. and Margaret E. (McMillen) Myers.
 Betty attended Rice Avenue Union High School in Girard, then married and raised her family. She attended Erie County Vo-Tech School for Nurses Training and worked at the Presbyterian Home in Girard.  She also worked as a private duty aid in Conneaut, OH, Girard, East Springfield and Lake City.
  She attended the Federated Church of East Springfield and was a member of the Funeral Luncheon Committee. She was a life member of the VFW Post #4965 in Springfield, and the Girard American Legion Post #494 Auxiliary and a Girl Scout Leader in Springfield.
  She enjoyed crafts and interior designs.
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Scalise Jr. on May 2, 2022 and whom she married, February 1, 1948 in East Springfield; also by three sisters, Thelma English, Ella Kasper and an infant sister Minnie Myers; six brothers, Walter 'Bud' Myers, Melvin Myers, Al Myers, Charles M. Myers, Arnold L. "Pete" Myers and Gerald "Bill" Myers. 
  She is survived by four daughters, Vickie J. Davis (Paul), Jan M. Bernini (Daniel), Joanne K. Rogers (Richard) and Connie D. Solomon (Fred); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call Wednesday from 3PM to 6 PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Thursday at 10 AM with Pastor Ed Huntley officiating.
 Betty's family would like to express their gratitude to UPMC Hospice and the private duty staff for the compassionate care they provided in these last days.
  Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery.
