Bertha Anderson

Bertha J. (Sonney) Anderson, 86 of Johnsonburg died on Wednesday at Lecom Village Square. 

She was born April 9, 1937 a daughter to the late Kermit and Flora (Beers) Sonney in Kane, Pennsylvania. 

Following her graduation from Johnsonburg High School she continued her education at Idaho University, where she earned an Associate Degree.

On June 7, 1958, Bertha married the love of her life, the late Allen P. Anderson. Bertha was a dedicated home maker for many years. In the later part of her life her worked as a manager at JoAnne Fabrics. Throughout her time in Pennsylvania, she lived in multiple different places, including Oil City, Harrisburg, and eventually settling back in Johnsonburg.

Bertha enjoyed engaging in various hobbies in her free time such as, sewing and caring for her cats. Above all she loved to quilt, making hundreds of quilts that will be enjoyed for generations. Bertha was also actively involved in her community, volunteering and regularly donating blood to the American Red Cross.

She will be greatly missed by her family which include her daughter, Susan M. Anderson of Erie, PA, and her son, Jon C. Anderson of Oneida, NY (Ellie). She is also survived by her two brothers, Michael Sonney (Sharyn) of Natrona Heights, PA, and Kermit Sonney (Pam) of NC.; grandchildren, Andy Anderson (Grace) and Austin Anderson; in addition an adopted daughter, Ann Gadley.

Services are to be held Privately by the family.
