Archie D. Card of Albion, 76, died on Thursday December 10, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.
Archie was born October 12, 1944 a son of the late Russell A. and Iva (Shetler) Card. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1962. He enjoyed working on cars at an early age learning from his father. Following high school he worked at Fred's Garage in Albion with his brother in law.
Archie enlisted into the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and served as a medical assistant. He was deployed overseas for one year and eleven months. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, earning the rank of Senior Airman. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home to Albion where he began work with Penelec Electric Co. as a lineman. He worked there until his early retirement in 2000. Although retired, Archie continued to keep busy working at Buyers Fair and Walmart. He was always looking for ways to help people around him. Archie was a lifetime member of the Albion Vol. Fire Department. He was also a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494. Archie and his wife Melodie attended Grace United Methodist Church. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Yankees, and very proud of being an Albion Area Fair Grounds electrician for many years. He loved to be involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s school events, such as marching band competitions and little league teams. Their home was often full of family and friends.
In addition to his parents Archie was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordan and Wayne Card; four sisters Beverly Card, Margaret Phillips, Aloice Kelly, and Geneva “Ruth” Keidaisch.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of fifty-three years Melodie (Glass ) Card; a son Christopher Card (Amanda); two daughters Shawna Mundkowsky (David) and Kellie Bowen (Bradley); four brothers Dennis Card (Peggy), William Card (Netta), Russell A. Card Jr. and Ronald Card (Karen); four sisters Norma Snider, Linda Dunham (Dave), Corrine Johnson (Delbert), Debra Weir (Walter); six grandchildren David “DJ” Mundkowsky(Diana), Mallory, Alexis and Jennifer Mundkowsky, Alexander, and Owen Card; two great-grandchildren Liam and David-Benjamin Mundkowsky; as well as a grand dog Jack Malcolm. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
