Ann Maurice (Rood) Suscheck, age 94, of Fairview, PA (formerly of Albion), passed away December 6, 2021 at her home.
She was born January 23, 1927 in Albion to the late Morris and Mary (Mulvey) Rood.
Ann graduated from Albion High School, class of 1944. Early in her working career she was employed as an Albion water meter reader. Ann worked for years at the U.S. Post Office in Albion as a clerk, hired by her Father, who was then Postmaster. This was during WW II when she filled in for the men who went off to war. After the birth of her eight children, Ann returned to the Post Office and retired after suffering injuries from the 1985 Albion tornado. After the tornado and the destruction of the home where she was born, raised, and raised her children, she and her husband relocated to Fairview. After retirement, Ann loved her work at the Jaworowicz Funeral Home as a greeter.
Ann was a former parishioner of St. Lawrence Church in Albion and more recently of St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard. She was a member of St. Lawrence Altar Rosary Society and taught Religious Education at both St. Lawrence and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Churches, enjoyed dancing, bowling and spending summers at the family cottage in North Springfield.
Ann was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence (Larry) and son-in-law, Joseph Formanski. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Helene Gilliland (Bernard), Mildred Struchen, Doris Welin and Mary Schultz (Cecil) and three grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, John, whom she married June 7, 1947 and their seven children; Dennis (Janice Connors) of Girard, Diane Formanski of Middlefield, OH, Thomas of Conneaut, OH, Robert (Laura Totleben) of Girard, Mary Ellen Simkovitch (John) of Lake City, Ann Marie Cook (Blake) of Ashtabula, OH and James of Girard. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral home viewing will take place at Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St., East, Girard, PA 16417 on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet will be recited there at 1:30 PM and is open to anyone who wishes to participate.
A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John's Parish Center, 1001 Main St. East, Girard at 10 AM. Following CDC Guidelines, Masks must be worn by all individuals during the funeral mass.
Internment will be at St. John Cemetery.
