Allen McCall Obituary

Allen E. McCall, 82, of Girard, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in Sarasota, FL.
 He was born January 4, 1939 in Erie, a son of the late Ralph E. and Dorothy E. (Daub) McCall.
Allen graduated from Girard's Rice Avenue Union High School in 1956, where he participated in the Yellow Jackets Football and Wrestling programs. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957, where he served aboard the U.S.S. Perry (DD-844), A Gearing-Class destroyer and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
 Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned home to Girard, where he soon learned the mason trade as a bricklayer. He worked for Hardner & Doyle Construction where he was a  foreman for the mason work. He was later self employed as a bricklayer, throughout Erie County for many years until his retirement. His notable work can be seen in many locations throughout the county.
 He attended the Federated Church of East Springfield and participated in many local organizations as a vital member of the Girard community for many years.
 Allen will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Barbara (Nason) McCall, whom he married on August 6, 1960 in Girard; also by a daughter, Karen Thompson-Repas (James) of Medina, OH; a son, Scott McCall (Amy) of Lake City; his grandchildren, Nason McCall and his fiance', Dacey Wohlford, Camryn McCall, Katie Snyder (Justin), Holly Repas, Tyler Thompson (Captain U.S. Army Ret.) and his fiance', Kayla Konczos and Trevor Thompson; three sisters, Peggy Hetz of Fairview, Diane Gottschling of Beaufort, SC and Jill Connelly (Tom) of Edinboro; a sister in law, Nancy Hanninen (Tom) of Plano, TX and several nieces and nephews.
 Services will be held privately by the family with Pastor Ed Huntley officiating.
 Burial with full military honors will be in the Girard Cemetery.
 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allen McCall Scholarship Fund, c/o First National Bank, Girard Office, 9133 West Ridge Road, Girard, PA 16417 or any FNB Branch.

 Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edder Funeral Home Inc., Girard.
 The McCall family will be planning an outdoor public celebration of life for Al later this summer, date to be announced.
