Willis J. Heim Sr.

Willis J. Heim Sr., 77, of Girard, died unexpectedly on Thursday September 13, 2018 at UPMC Hamot.
 He was born in Erie, April 14, 1941, a son of the late Melvin M. and Gladys (Wittenburg) Heim.
 Willis lived and grew up as a boy in the McKean area. He joined the US Navy in 1959, where he served with Construction Battalion Seven in Davisville, Rhode Island. Willis was honorably discharged in 1962.
 He was employed at Smith-Meter in Erie for 23 years also Doyle Security, a Deputy Constable for Erie County, a maintenance man at Camp Sherwin and most recently Anchor Inn during his retirement.
 He had also participated in the Erie County Sheriff Search & Rescue Horse Patrol. and loved hunting throughout his life.
 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Willey) Heim and his second wife, Betty (Nichols) Heim; a son, Willis J. Heim Jr. and two brothers, Melvin J. "Shorty" Heim and Willis Reosch.
 He will be greatly missed by his family including his wife, Cheryl L. Heim, whom he married in 2000; a son, Douglas Heim (Jackie); a daughter in law, Jenifer Heim; two step daughters, Kristy Strain and Diane Rainey (Jerry); three step sons, Todd Strain, Robert Strain (Katie), Dennis Muller; a half sister, P.J. Dorchester; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
 There will be no calling hours or services observed.
 Interment will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
