Walter B. Dinger

Walter B. Dinger, 89 formerly of Girard, went to be with the Lord on Monday May 29, 2017 at Westlake Woods in Erie.

He was born July 02, 1927 in Sunnyside, PA., a son of the late Harry J. and Grace O. (Brocious) Dinger.

Walter was inducted into the US Army during WWII. Upon his discharge from active duty he enlisted in the US Army Reserves, where he was called to duty during the Korean conflict. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.

He worked for the Red Bank Gas Co. and moved to the Lake City area in 1966. He later worked for the Erie Foundry and most recently had been employed by Copes-Vulcan in Lake City, retiring after 22 years.

He was a member of the Girard Alliance Church and was an Elder there at one time.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Stanley, Kenneth and Melvin Dinger.

Walter will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife, Velma C. Dinger, who he married, March 12, 1949 in Hawthorne, PA., also by a daughter, Kathy Graham (Richard) of Jonesborough, TN., a son, John B. Dinger (Valerie) of Edinboro; two sisters, Eva Work of Lynchburg, SC., Gladys Turner (David) of Wesleyville; a brother, Edward Dinger (Shirley) of Erie; a sister in law, Fay Dinger of Girard, grandchildren, Jaime, Melissa, Daniel, Jeff, Kim, and Cameron also many great grandchildren; a couple great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3025 French St. Erie, PA 16504

Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
