Sharon C. (Hunt) Romba

Sharon C.  (Hunt) Romba, 84 formerly of Albion and Erie, passed away on Monday April 24, 2017 at Forestview Nursing Home.

She was born July 7, 1932 in Westfield, NY, a daughter of the late Duane and Maude (Cleveland) Hunt.

Sharon graduated from the Westfield Academy and Central High School in 1952, where she was chosen Salutatorian, and was a member of the National Honor Society.  She continued her post high school education in Westfield, studying shorthand and typing. She later attended Nurses Training at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, NY.

In 1956 she moved to Erie and later worked for Erie Resistor over 20 years as an inspector. She then worked  at St. Vincent Health Center as a dietary technician and retired following 23 years with the hospital. Following her retirement she worked at the Country Fair in McKean, for the Blair Corporation in Erie and most recently had been employed as  a caregiver for Home Instead of Erie. She had lived in McKean for many years, recently moving to Albion.

Sharon attended the Wesleyan Church of the Nazarene in Albion and was a person of strong faith in the Lord her entire life, sharing her faith with everyone she met. She enjoyed reading extensively, riding her bike, many types of music, traveling, and loved to fish anywhere. She recently completed traveling to all of the 50 United States and made several fishing trips to Canada. She has visited Ireland and all of the British Isles and vacationed many times at Yellowstone Park, the Grand Canyon and Disneyworld. Sharon was an avid star gazer and nature lover.

She was preceded in death by a daughter at birth, Cynthia Jane Romba; a son, Duane P. Hurlbert in 2012, and two brothers, Larry and Lysle Hunt.

She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca A. Romba; a son, Andrew B. Romba (Arleen); a sister, Laurel Magnuson (Herb); six grandchildren, Rev. Philip Hurlbert, Justin Hurlbert, Jessica Habig, Darrel Romba, Hallie Romba and Stefanie Marshall; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey Hurlbert, Kalyn Hurlbert, Joel Hurlbert, Benjamin Marshall and Kaden Hurlbert; a daughter in law, Debbie Hurlbert_and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her special friend and "adopted son", David Gadley.
 
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard with Sharon's grandson, Rev. Philip Hurlbert officiating.
 Sharon's Family would like to express their gratitude for the compassion and care of the Staff at Forestview at Spring Hill and also Erie Regional Home Health and Hospice.
  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Albion Church of the Nazarene, 9578 US RT 6N, Albion, Pa 16401, or to the American Cancer Society, 2115 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16508 or to the Corry ANNA Shelter,  13199 US -RT 6, Corry, PA 16407.
