Ruth Aileen (Veiger (Watson)) Berlin

Ruth Aileen Veiger (Watson) Berlin, 91, of Girard, passed away on  September 4, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. 
  
She was born on July 8, 1928 to the late Anthony John and Hazel (Platz) Veiger in Girard, PA. She graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School and remained a Girard girl all of her life.  Ruth worked as an LPN and Nursing Supervisor for Erie County Hospital now Pleasant Ridge Manor for many years. Ruth remained a constant caregiver for friends and family members throughout the years.  She also drove school bus for the Girard School District, retiring with over twenty-five years of service.  
   
She was a member of the Red Hats Society.  Ruth loved basketball and truly loved driving the boys' basketball team to their many games, including to the State Championships.  Ruth was known as their good luck charm. 
  
Ruth is survived by her husband, Evan H. Berlin, whom she married on June 19, 1962 in Girard; a daughter, Melody E. Berlin; step daughter, Sheryl R. Fresch; step-sons, Daryl H. Berlin and Marty J. Berlin; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Stephen R. Watson , David A. Watson, and step-son, Brian D. Berlin.  

No calling hours were observed. 

The Berlin family would like to thank Georgeanne Exley for her wonderful care of our Mom over the past four years.
