Richard S. Skeel, 59, of West Springfield, passed away Monday May 22, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.
 He was born July 5, 1957 in Conneaut, OH. a son of Willavene M. (Salisbury) Skeel of East Springfield and the late Richard K. Skeel.
 Richard graduated from Northwestern High School in 1975. Immediately following high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Following recruit training at Parris Island, he was stationed at Camp Lejeune where he later deployed overseas. Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he returned home and began working at Haysite Inc., in Erie. He later worked at Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Co. until becoming disabled in 2014. Throughout his life, and while working, he always had a 2nd job at home with his fruit and vegetable farm.
 He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and the streams of the west county area.
 In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Tina Sanford (Phillip) of Lehigh Acres, FL.; a son, Joseph Skeel of West Springfield; a sister, Melinda Krahe (Mark) of Harborcreek; a brother, Larry W. Skeel (Laurie) of West Springfield; an Aunt, Joanne Skeel of West Springfield also several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call on Thursday from 6 p.m. to the time of a Prayer Service at 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.
