He graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1950.  After graduation he worked on the Nickel Plate Railroad as a trackman and at Lake Erie Forge and Steel.  Paul enlisted in the US Army in March of 1951.  Following basic training he deployed to Korea, aboard the U.S. Naval Ship Marine Serpent and later was awarded  the Army Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant for meritorious service as a member of HQ CO (POW Command); Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze stars; United National Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.  Paul returned home and began working at Morlite in Girard and was then hired by AMSCO as a grinder in the Machine Shop.  He was also a drill press operator and worked 39 years there until his retirement in 1994.
