Patricia (Harpst) McCarthy Obituary

Patricia Elaine (Petri) (Harpst) McCarthy of Lake City, Pa. left this earth on the wings of Angels to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 4, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family. Dementia may have taken her memory, but not her spirit, love of life, family and her fellow man.

Patricia was born on June 13, 1935 in Erie, Pa. to the late Elmer C. and Florence E. Petri. She was an accomplished artist and poet who used her talents to not only paint windows in the family home at holidays, but also to make handwritten notes, letters and cards to family and friends. She was best known locally for her elaborate and beautiful wedding and all occasion cakes.

Patricia was a loving, faith driven woman who loved her family, everyone around her, and life itself. She always found light in the darkness and drew something positive from anything negative. She put everyone else's needs above her own and would pray for total strangers. She was truly one of God's Angels here on earth. We were all blessed by her and she was admired, respected and loved by all. She will forever be remembered for her love of the Lord as well as the love of her children, step-children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a very special best friend, Thelma “Toots” (Frank) McGill.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death, by brothers Dennis Petri, David Petri and his wife Diann, Elmer C. Petri, Jr.; Grandson, Jacob John Harpst, granddaughter, Kimberly Noel Bryant and stepson Shaun “Sam” McCarthy.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Bernard (Mac) McCarthy, children, Robert (Tina) Harpst, Sharon Bryant, Brenda (David) Hechler, Jean (Mike) Perkins, Dwight (Cricket) Harpst, Dan (Kaye) Harpst, Jeffrey (Amy) Harpst and Joy (Mike) Peters, grandchildren, Michael (Cathrine) Harpst, Amy (Jonathan) Frano, Nathan Harpst, Kristie (Jeremy) Milewski, Jason Bryant, Justin Bryant, Jordan Bryant, Holly Hechler, Matthew Hechler, Michelle (Mo) Cassidy, Melissa (Clay) Pauley, Amanda Perkins, Jessica (Justin) Jaeger, Joshua (Heather) Harpst, Zachery Harpst, Andrea Eisenhuth, Bradley Cesario, Gabrielle, Elizabeth, Laura, Alaina and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Marshall, Aubreianna, Isabella, Giovanni, Riley, Gracin, A’ine, Hazel, Rebecca, Emma, Jacob, Julian, Mason, Mia, Adelyn, Ellia, Brynlee, Alexis, Micayla, Seth, Lucas, Ayla and Lyra.

Patricia is also survived by her husband’s children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, William (Donna) McCarthy and son Ryan, Mary (Stephen) Sofranek, John (Lisa) McCarthy and children Brittney, John, Kaitlyn, Lanie, Claire and Rachel, Erin (Charles) Gresh and son Kyle, Mrs. Shaun (Dana) McCarthy and children Abigail and Hannah.

Friends are invited to call at the Federated Church, 11995 Main St., East Springfield on Thursday, January 10 from 10 a.m. to the time of the Memorial Service there at 12 p.m. noon, with Pastor Ed Huntley officiating.
