Norman C. Navecky

Norman C. Navecky, 83, formerly of Girard, died Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Sunrise Senior Living in Erie.
 He was born August 17, 1933 in Erie, a son of the late Frank J. and Edna (Green) Navecky.
 Norman graduated from the Millcreek High School in 1951. Following high school he was inducted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Panama as a Section Leader (Corporal) in Communications, serving with Headquarters Company, 903rd Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion. Following his honorable discharge in 1955 Norm returned home and began working at Birkmier Trucking, where he assisted in the construction of Interstate 90. In 1959 he began working at American Sterilizer Inc. where he retired in 1995 as an Inspector.
 Norm was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard; Past Commander, life member and drill team member of the Girard American Legion Post #494; as well as life member and past commander of the Springfield VFW Post #4965.
 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Navecky.
 He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife, Joan (Licsko) Navecky, whom he married August 20, 1955 in Girard; two daughters, Kathleen M. Seth (Jeff) of Lake City, Susan J. Manzella (David) of Boston, NY; three sons, Michael A. Navecky (Roberta) of York, PA., David C. Navecky of Washington, D.C., James E. Navecky (Nancy) of Garner, NC; a sister, June Albert of Millcreek; a brother Frank Navecky Jr. (Joyce) of Girard; six grandchildren, Shelbi Daniels, Brian Daniels, Anthony Manzella, Dominic Manzella, Mitchell Navecky and Sydney Navecky, also several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A Prayer Service will be held there on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard at 10 a.m. with Rev. William Miller officiating.
 Burial with full military honors will be in St. John Cemetery.
 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Girard American Legion Post #494, 42 Wall St., Girard, PA. 16417.
