Lenore A. (Erickson) Potter, 87 of Girard, passed away on Thursday March 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born November 25, 1929 in Platea, a daughter of the late Oscar and Edith (McDonald) Erickson.

Lenore graduated from the Rice Avenue Union High School in 1948. Following high school she moved to Washington DC, where she worked as a Clerk for the FBI. It was there she met her future husband, Edward J. Potter Jr., who was serving in the United States Marine Corp. Following her husband’s discharge from the Marine Corps, the couple returned to the Girard area where she resided the remainder of her life.

She was the Tax Collector for Girard Twp. for a number of years.

Lenore was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and enjoyed gardening around her home.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Potter Jr. in 1985, whom she married July 15, 1950 in Quantico, VA., also by a son, Bobby Potter; two sisters, Lillian McIntyre and Winnie Smith; brothers, Vincent Erickson in infancy and Carl and Gilbert Erickson; her grandchildren, Brenda Potter, Twin granddaughters, Miranda and Melissa Potter and Amber M. Vos.

She will be greatly missed by her family, which include two daughters, Carol J. McAleer (Don), Peggy A. Hupp; sons, Edward J. Potter III (Shelly), Thomas P. Potter (Shirley), David J. Potter (Jenny); brothers, Jesse Erickson, Edward "Ed" Erickson, and Larry Erickson (Wanda); fifteen grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a brother in law, John Potter and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.

Funeral Services will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to A.F. Dobler Hose Co., 37 Walnut St., Girard, PA 16417 or to the "Honor Project" C/O Girard American Legion Post #494, 42 Wall St., Girard, PA 16417.

Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Girard.
