Frances C. (Thompson) Arnold, 100 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday July 4, 2017 at Elmwood Gardens in Erie.
 She was born on January 13, 1917 in Richmond Center Ashtabula Co. Ohio, a daughter of the late Maxwell C. and Ruby L. (Kunz) Thompson. 
As a young girl she rode her pony to school in Andover, where she was a notable basketball player. Frances began working at the Erie County Home (now Pleasant Ridge Manor) in 1959, where she eventually received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree, retiring from there in 1979. 
She attended the Federated Church of East Springfield, and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Erie. She loved being outside and working in her garden. 
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband Joseph V. Hewel who was killed in action during Operation Market Garden of World War II, her second husband Joseph D. Arnold and third husband Tom Perkins. She is also preceded by daughter Ruth Williams, son Robert Arnold, sisters; Maxine Muller and Ruth Garvey, one brother Gilbert Thompson and grandchildren David Hewel, Joseph Arnold, Jack Keller and Christopher Hewel in infancy. 
Francis will be missed by her family which include daughter Barbara D. Walker of Erie, son Gerald "Jerry" V. Hewel (Margaret) of Fairview, grandchildren Darcy Krzic (Chuck), Julie Sallade (Jim), Jerry Hewel (Nancy), Lorrie Swartwood (Tim), Craig Hewel (Michelle) and Cindy Noland (Bruce). Also surviving are eighteen great grandchildren, twenty one great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 p.m and 6 to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ed Huntley officiating.
 Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
