Elsie M. (Shafer) Andrzejczak, 75, of Girard, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 21, 1941 in Geneva, PA, a daughter of the late Howard J. and I. Jean (Seaman) Shafer.
She graduated from Saegertown High School in 1959. Following high school she worked at Dads Dog Food in Meadville, Erie Malleable Iron, and Eriez Magnetics. She moved to Girard and became a School Bus driver for the Girard School District, for 37 years. In 1967 she and her husband James, began, James Andrzejczak Landscape Contracting, where she was currently the Secretary and Treasurer. She was known to answer the phone there anytime, day or night, and enjoyed simply having conversations with her customers, who held her in the highest regard.
Elsie was the Matriarch of the Andrzejczak family, who she loved dearly. She also loved her horses, and was a constant energetic worker. She was a social member of the Girard American Legion Post # 494, the Fairview American Legion Post # 742, and the Erie Maennerchor Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Andrzejczak, whom she married, January 1, 1964 in Erie, also by a step daughter, “Cindy”; a sister, Marianne Sheldon; three brothers, Howard J. “Jimmy” Shafer, David P. Shafer and John R. Shafer.
Elsie will be greatly missed by her family, which include two daughters, Marjorie “Margie” Shafer-Gallagher (Brian) of Palmdale, CA., Kathleen Chaffee (Bob) of Girard; four sons, David E. “Shorty” Shafer (Beth) of Meadville, Thomas J. Andrzejczak (Elizabeth) of Pittsburgh, Micheal R. Andrzejczak (Cathy) of West Springfield, James H. “Pogo” (Tammy) of Girard; a sister, Doris Sherrod (Red) of Venango, PA; a brother, Thomas T. Shafer (Jan Lipps-Shafer) of Harmonsburg, PA; 11 grandchildren, Daly, Jessica, Daniel, Kelsie, David, Pam, Veronica, Steven, Thomas, Johannah, and Chevy; 10 great grandchildren, Katherine, Tyler, Magnus, Steven, Geo, Lola, James, Darren, Scarlet, and Lincoln; many nieces, nephews and her beloved Boston Terrier, “Buster”.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Ave., Girard with Rev. Clyde Davis officiating.

Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
