Betty A. (Hirby) Borland, 74 of Girard, went to be with her Savior on Thursday May 25, 2017 at St. Vincent Health Center.
 She was born July 19, 1942 in Osceola, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Myrtle M. (Abney) Hirby.
 As a young girl Betty moved to the Girard area with her family. She attended the Rice Avenue Union High School and worked at the B & R Dinor in Girard, Lawson’s, EMSCO, The Platea Restaurant and The Hitching Post.
 She loved her family deeply and enjoyed cooking and taking care of them.
 Betty was a member of the Triangle S Snowmobile Club in west county, enjoyed bingo and playing cards.
 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey R. Hirby and Elmer Franklin Hirby.
 She will be greatly missed by her family which include her husband, Richard E. “Butch” Borland, whom she married January 2, 1960 in Girard, also by five daughters, Joyce M. Goodman of Girard, Shirley A. Wagner (Robert Sr.) of Girard, Linda J. Niles of Girard, Darlene E. Robertson (Jason Rich) of Cranesville and Beth M. Hanna (Todd) of Girard; a sister, Zelma M. Forro of Youngstown, OH; a brother, William O. Hirby of Youngstown, OH; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Sunday at 10 a.m.
 Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
