Bertha F. (Kerr) Ward

Bertha F. (Kerr) Ward, 84 of Erie and formerly of Girard and Philadelphia, passed away suddenly at her home on Friday January 4, 2019.
 She was born July 30, 1934 in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Joseph R. and Iona F. (Mitchell) Kerr. 
  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Ward, whom she married March 15, 1957 in Philadelphia, also by a sister, Joan Blackburn.
 Bertha graduated from Frankford High School in 1956. Following high school she attended and graduated from Frankford Hospital, in Philadelphia, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She began her employment at that hospital and was also employed at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL the Titusville Hospital from 1974 to 1979 and most recently Pleasant Ridge Manor in Girard where she retired from in 1996.
 Bertha enjoyed needlework and crocheting along with a love of laughter, cooking, a good meal and her furbabies Cooper and Murphy.
 She will be sadly missed by her family which include her daughters, Patricia A. Getz (Charles), Celia F. Chesnick, and Mary L. Ward; a stepdaughter, Sharon Evans; a stepson, David Ward; two sisters, Edith Woodruff and Pauline Roche; ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard on Thursday from 12 noon to the time of the funeral service there at 2 p.m.
 Burial will be in Girard Cemetery.
