Albert A. Markham, 90 of Girard, passed away on Thursday February 15, 2018 following an extended illness.
He was born April 27, 1927 in Platea, a son of the late Bert Markham and Emma (Ash) Pease.
Al was raised and educated in Platea and at the age of 18 enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW2. He was deployed to China, gearing up for the attack on mainland Japan. As the war ended he returned home and began working installing television antennas throughout the area. He later began working for IBEW local #56 and worked as a Foreman at the Perry Nuclear Generating Station, retiring from there in 1989.
Al loved fishing throughout the area and Canada and Alaska. He also loved his boat "Ace High", traveling and camping with his motor home, Go-Cart racing at Bud's Raceway in Girard and spending time at the Casino.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a half sister, Arlene Spaulding and two half brothers, Louis Pease and Howard Pease.
He will be greatly missed by his family, which include his daughters, Virginia Ann Crock (Brian), Sherry Metzenbacher (Eric), Laurie Rausch; stepdaughter Janice Behringer (Bob), a son, Al Jr. Markham (Karen); companion Cathy Markham; his grandchildren, Wendy Mae Filipowski (Brian), Stacy Carr (Steve), Jody Kelley, Robert Markham, Katie McDonald, Kristen Jacobson, Jarrod Rausch; step grandchildren; Courtney Sakuta and Garrett Behringer; many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
No calling hours will be observed. Services will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the ANNA Shelter, (Equestrian Services) 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511.
