Norbert Boucher Obituary

Norbert Phillip Boucher, 88, of Lake City, died on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Saint Vincent Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Norbert was born on July 6, 1935 in Zurich, Kansas to the late Hector and Celia Gangnon Boucher.

Norbert graduated high school in Palco, Kansas, before initiating his service with the U.S. Army.  Following the conclusion of his military enlistment, Norbert worked as a brick layer for 20 years. Many of the cottages on Lakeside in Edinboro have basements under them because of his work.  Looking for a new craft, Norbert went to Erie Technical School and became a tool maker, working in both the Erie area and in the state of Texas until he retired.

Norbert is a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Girard, where he found camaraderie with other parishioners.  He enjoyed spending his leisure time gardening, watching TV, taping movies, shooting pool, and dancing.  Norbert was generous with his time and energy; he taught line dancing as well as volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Hope on Horseback (Formerly TREC).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first two wives, Theresa Kolasa and Eleanor McConnell; sisters, Alfreda Virgonsan, Lucille Fischer, Cleota Dinkel; brothers, Eldon Boucher, Eugene Boucher; and great granddaughter, Jamie Vallorani.

Norbert will be missed by his wife, Mary L. Stephens Boucher, whom he married on November 5, 2005 in Keller, TX; a daughter, Deborah Vallorani (Anthony) of Texas; sons, Christopher Boucher (Patricia) of Girard, Timothy Boucher (Tosha) of Erie, John Boucher (Karen) of Texas, and Steve Boucher of Erie; sister, Vivian Boucher SSJ of Kansas; brothers, LeRoy Boucher of Kansas, and Kenneth Boucher (Lynn) of Arizona; grandchildren, Nicholas Vallorani (Lisa), Ryne Vallorani (Katie), Theresa Cartwright (Luke), Nicholas Boucher (Stephanie), Bailey Boucher, Joseph Fabrizio (Miranda), Kimberly Dziubkowski (Tom), Kerri Koch (Michael), Ryan Wagner (Kristy), Danny Schlund (Rebecca) as well as seventeen great-grandchildren.  Also, multiple stepchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A special ‘Thank You’ to the CNICU Nurses at St. Vincent AHN for their incredible compassion and caring.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean, PA at 10:00am.
