Wayne B. Coonfer, 86, of Lake City, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 10, 2016 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born April 26, 1930 in Rimersburg, PA a son of the late Wayne B. and Mabel (Flick) Coonfer Sr.

Wayne was raised and educated in the Albion area, graduating from Albion High School in 1948. Following high school he began working at Marx Toys in Girard where he worked initially in shipping and later the Maintenance Department, until their closing. He later worked for the Girard Industrial Development Corp. in the maintenance department where he retired from.

He was a long time member of the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Albion Moose and the Odd Fellows. Wayne loved the outdoors, was an avid New York Yankee’s and Dallas Cowboys Fan. He enjoyed his time every fall at the Albion Fair. His greatest pleasure was to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church and also the Lake Erie Community Federal Credit Union where he was a member of the loan committee.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jean Mittwede and Louise Clark and a grandson Jared Michael Hanisek.

Wayne will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen (Marcinowski) Coonfer; two daughters, Cheryl L. Hanisek (David) of Lake City, Gail E. Teribery (Russ) of Lake City; a son , Jeff W. Coonfer (Melinda) of Girard; grandchildren, Jamie Feldmann (Michael), Jill Belmondo (D.J.), Ben Teribery (Ashley), Sarah Lybrook (Jake) and Elliot Coonfer; fourteen great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Wednesday at 10am with Rev. John Gerber officiating.

Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery.
