Walter O. Walker, 82, of Girard, passed away on Friday April 7, 2017 at UPMC Hamot. 
  He was born on January 15, 1935 to the late David and Laura (Diller) Walker at Wilkensburg, PA.
  Walter lived in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County as a boy and later moved with his family to Clermont, PA (McKean County). The family eventually moved to Lake City where he attended Rice Avenue Union High School. As a young man, Walter began working with his dad in the construction business in the West County Area. He learned cabinet construction and finish work from him at an early age, and later working for various construction companies in the Erie area, building homes in Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania. After Walter retired from construction he started working for his Uncle at 5 and 18 service as a mechanic until he was injured in an auto accident. 
Walter was a volunteer fire fighter at Lake City Fire Co. where he was also active with the Fire Police. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1953 to 1961. He  enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at camp near Clermont, PA in McKean County. 
  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Wife, Marjorie (Platz) Walker; two sisters, Mary Emma Walker as a child and Eleanor Brown; brother William Walker. 
  He will be missed by his family which includes his daughter, Patricia Bagnall and her husband Tom of Pittsburgh; a son, Walter Walker Jr. "Joe" and his wife Amy of Lake City; a brother David A. Walker Jr. and his wife Dorothy of NC; grandchildren, Chrystal, Jason, Justin, Jeremy and Jordan; many great grandchildren,  and many nieces and nephews. 
  Respecting Walters wishes there will be no calling hours observed. 
  A celebration of life will be held on May 6, 2017, from 1p.m. to 3p.m. at the Girard American Legion Post 494, 42 Wall St. Girard, PA 16417.
