Ruth Carol Baxter, 81, of Albion, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
 She was born March 22, 1936, in Girard, a daughter of the late Carl and Catherine (Bender) Gilmore.
 Ruth graduated from the Rice Avenue Union High School in 1954. Following high school she attended and graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1957. She began her nursing career as a registered nurse for St. Vincent Health Center.  Most of her nursing career was dedicated to family medicine.  She helped to open Elk Valley Medical Center in Girard, where she later retired.
 She was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Albion, where she was a treasurer of the United Methodist Women, attended women’s bible study and assisted in the kitchen including coordinating many funeral luncheons. 
 Ruth was the ultimate coordinator and list maker. While raising her family and working as a nurse, she also assisted in the operations of the family dairy, Ne-Ru Farms.
 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph C. Baxter and a brother, James P. Gilmore.
 She will be greatly missed by her family, which include her husband, Neil H. Baxter, whom she married June 6, 1958, in Erie, also by a son, Neil J. Baxter (Joan); three daughters, Emma Mack (Roman), Catherine Brooks (Ramy) and Joanne Bolte (Bill); her grandchildren, Bryce and Drew Baxter, Tyler, Joshua, and Emily Mack, Abigail, Molly, and Wyatt Brooks, Matthew Bolte, and a great granddaughter, Sophia; also several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard, PA and are invited to attend services there on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Duk Hee Han officiating.
 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 49 Franklin St., Albion, PA 16401 or to the Ramps of Hope, PO Box 65 W. Springfield, PA 16443.
 Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery.
