Rose J. (Pertl) Jones, 90, of Girard, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

She was born November 15, 1925 in Albion, a daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette (Feres) Pertl.

After graduating from Edinboro High School she attended and graduated from Edinboro State Teacher's College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She also received education credits at Penn State University.

Rose began her teaching career at age 20 at Beaver Center Consolidated School and later taught in the elementary public school system until 1979. She was instrumental in the beginning of the Girard Alliance Christian Academy, where she taught 9 years full-time and five years part-time.

Rose was an enthusiastic member of the Girard Alliance Church, attending there since 1948, not only directing the choir for 25 years, but also was the Christian Education Director and a Youth Director for many years, taking children and teens on many educational and enriching trips. She loved music, singing and flower gardening. Rose and Jonathan opened their home to many students throughout their school years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Lillian Galuska and her brother Frank Pertl.

She will be greatly missed by her family which includes her husband, Edward J. "Jonathan" Jones whom she married June 10, 1949 in Girard; daughters Janine J. Osborn and her husband Timothy of Pataskala, OH and Judy J. Wuenschel and her husband Gerald of Girard; son Jerry J. Jones and his wife Marsha of Springboro; sister Martha Rickard of Girard; grandchildren Jonathan Jones, Spencer Osborn and Bryan Wuenschel; four great grandchildren, Rebekah Grace , Rachel Rose, Jeremiah Stanley and Jesse Paul, also many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm and again on Friday from 10am until the time of service at the Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Ave., Girard at 11am with Rev. Clyde Davis officiating.

Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Girard Alliance Church.
